Marijuana Addiction Issues
Addiction Problem
Increased use of
Marijuana would lead to widespread addiction. The consistent use of
Marijuana causes a condition referred to as marijuana use disorder to
abusers. The users more susceptible to the development of the
disorder are those who get exposed to the drug at an earlier age. The
disorder causes dependence liability where users experience side
effects when not taking the drug. The symptoms of the marijuana
disorder include irritability, sleeping difficulties, loss of
appetite, and other physical discomforts when one quits the drug
suddenly. In such a case, the body is used to high concentrations of
the drug molecules in the system. When the disorder gets severe the
individual develops an addiction. Thus, marijuana should not be
legalized as the number of addicts to the drug would increase
tremendously globally (Caulkins
& Kilmer, 2016).
Conclusion
As discussed above,
marijuana should not be legalized. Some of the reasons include the
adverse effects of human health, negative social issues in the
society and the addiction problem. For instance, Marijuana use causes
poor judgment which leads to users making irrational life choices.
The choices impact on their personal health and wellness as well as
that of the society. For example they could have multiple sexual
partners or cause accidents among others.
